This was a funny story... Jack lost his first tooth back in September. And then, Jack and Grace decided to pretend that Jack was a dog. He put the "leash" (jump rope) in his mouth and Grace tugged on it. I missed that part and all I heard was the screaming. And then I saw the blood. I was trying to make sense of what was going on and his tooth (not the one that he was supposed to loose next) was sticking straight out of his mouth. All the while Grace was screaming "I forgive you, I forgive you" over and over again. We iced it, called the dentist and then called my mom. While I was freaking out, he was calming down and by the time I was done on the phone he asked if he could go to school now. Seriously? His tooth was sticking out of his mouth - he couldn't even close it all the way. But sure, why not? We took him to school, made sure that he knew where the nurse's office is and went on our way. He lost his tooth by lunch (now that's two at school and none for me) and this is what he looked like when I picked him up from school.

Poor kid! He almost had to be a Jack-O-Lantern for Halloween. But the middle one soon fell out - or should I say, I pulled it out. I wasn't going to let him loose another one at school so I yanked it. ;)

Kindergarten

I know, I know I just posted about his first day of school, but the day after I posted was his first day of getting in trouble at school. Oh boy... his teacher walked over to me after school (she NEVER does that) and said "Jack had a rough day today." I guess he was rather loud, perhaps getting everyone else wound up and he was shouting out. In a way, I'm surprised it hadn't happened before, but I also hoped he'd be good at school. Oh well. We did our best to come down on him pretty hard and it hasn't happened since. We'll see.

On a lighter note, he finally got his class picture. It's so cute. I can't believe my baby has school pictures. What a big boy.
Oh and there are love notes too. Except his high frequency word is like, so I guess their 'like notes'. :) But there's nothing like coming home from a run to a beautiful picture and a 'like' note. He wrote it all by himself, no help at all.

Do you know how much I love you?

Jack, do you know how much I love you?

A thousand?

More.

A million?

More.

Infinity?

More. Infinity x infinity.

WOW MOM! You just blowed my mind!

What's Missing?

It wiggled and wiggled and wiggled and then it finally came out!

Of course it came out while he was at school. I can only imagine the commotion. This morning he woke up and couldn't find his tooth box! But mommy found it, under his pillow, right where it belongs. And guess what! There was a five dollar bill AND a quarter! Good thing he got a wallet for his birthday!

How come it's not slowing down? I knew that the baby weeks and months fly by, they change so much so quickly. But I thought that once they got past a certain point, it would all slow down. But over the summer and certainly since the school year started, time has been flying. How could I have a kindergartener that's missing teeth?

Jack is 6!

Today Jack is 6... He slept in until 8 and then cuddled with baby Maggie. And then I sent him off to kindergarten with cupcakes and a new book for his classroom. (A monster book because Halloween books are his favorite). I can't believe that today, he is celebrating his birthday with his classmates and his teacher - and not me. I know I'll see him after school, but it just seems so weird that he's not here and it's his birthday. This kindergarten thing is really hard for me to adjust to. Everywhere we go, I look for him. Every time we get in the car, I feel like someone is missing.

But this post is supposed to be about Jack and not me.
Here he is on his birthday morning:

Jack loves kindergarten. He loved the first day, wanted to go back to Joy School on the second day and told me that school is more fun than home on the third day. And he's loved it since. The letters have sounds (which he already knew) but they also have names and actions to go with them! He's drawn pictures of himself, Clifford, colored in the lines and even drew the horizon. He writes the date and already learned the months of the year. The playground is cool and he gets to choose what to eat (or not eat) out of his lunch box. It's so much more autonomy for him and he is really enjoying it.

This summer was a huge summer for Jack. He graduated from Joy School and got a new sister within two weeks. Now his little friends are all moving in different directions and after two really fun vacations, he has started kindergarten.

Jack is a joyful kid. He was nervous about kindergarten, but didn't hesitate to jump in full force. He's made a bunch of new friends and tells us all about the games they play each day. I love his happy heart, the leadership role he's taken on with his sisters and the fact that he doesn't mind cuddling with me.   He loves to read books, loves Star Wars and loves his friends and family.

He is an expert big brother, loves to pick up Maggie, calm her when she's crying and make her laugh. And he's especially good at giving Grace a hard time ~ sometimes ~ but for the most part, they play together really well.

For his birthday, we got icecream after school,

he opened a few presents and then went to soccer.

Grama and Grampa met us there and then we went out to dinner.

I think he had a pretty good day. On Saturday, we celebrated with our family and had a very small party for him, but he enjoyed it quite a bit.

Happy Birthday to my wonderful six year old boy! Yikes!

Home Depot's Craft Day

And one day we hit up Home Depot's craft day. It's really fun, you just show up and they have a free craft for you to complete with your kids.  Jack and Grace had a blast and are very proud of their cars.

Jack's Real Birthday

I'm so far behind, I don't know if I'll ever catch up! Did you notice? I never posted Jack's real birthday! Well here it is! We celebrated at Disneyland!

He started off hanging with the green army men:

Then we went on the Ferris wheel and went to get our tortilla.  He was so excited to get a WHOLE bag!

Then we headed over to Disneyland.
Jack decided that he wanted to find out what was inside of Pixie Hallow... I think he was a little disappointed.

We did go inside of Sleeping Beauty's castle and we got to visit with her!

Jack's BFF met up with us and Daddy came from work!

Then we celebrated at Rain Forest with Grama and Grampa!

Jack rode home with Daddy and Grace rode with me... And on our way to the car Gracie just had to pose a couple of times...

And the next day, when we were all finally home together, he got to open his presents from mommy and daddy...

Happy Fifth Birthday Jack!
