Fire!

In case you didn't hear, there was a fire RIGHT by our house today! It was really scary. Grace and I went for a walk while Jack was at school and on our way back home there were plumes of smoke coming up from our area. Seeing smoke near our house isn't all that unusual, since it seems like there are fires out here all the time, but this time it was really close! The spot where I park is along a wall that backs up to the freeway and on the other side of the freeway the hill was on fire. All it had to do was jump the freeway. Luckily, it wasn't windy and the firefighters from three counties responded so quickly. We were home just a few minutes after the fires started and there were already airplanes and helicopters dropping water. They were awesome! Jack wants to be a "firefighter helicopter pilot" when he grows up (but not for Halloween) and he was really impressed with the airplanes overhead. You could totally see them and the water they were dropping. Crazy! He also told me that it was snowing... That was while we were getting into the house, where we have been since - with all of the windows and doors shut... How long does it take for the air quality to improve? I took a few pictures, though none of them are very impressive, I thought I'd better document!
